In Person Flight Training Introduction
Hello everyone and welcome to ASW drone ground school. For this class we will meet at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds Event Center in Aurora Colorado. This two day class starts at 6 am. Drones are provided by the instructor. We will fly the Mavic 3. Due to liability and insurance students may not bring their own aircraft.
Students are not expected to master the flight maneuvers in two days. What is expected is students will give 100% effort in learning to be safe pilots. It is also expected that students will fly with safety first and foremost in mind. Unsafe and reckless behavior will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion from class.

UAVs and support equipment will be provided by the instructor. It is recommended you bring the items below for safety and comfort. Temperatures can be cool in the morning and warm by the early afternoon.

Students will be evaluated based on the criteria below.
FAA TRUST Training
Students are required to take the FAA TRUST test before starting class. This is an online training and testing program for recreational pilots. Both the training and test are free and can be completed in a reasonable time.
Ground School Quiz
Students must complete the ground school quiz before starting class. This quiz covers preflight and post flight procedures and safety.
Flight Logbook
Students must keep a logbook of their test flight patterns. Log entires will be provided as a Google form from the instructor.
Flight Patterns
Through the class students will learn to fly eight pattern with the drones. We will practice the patterns many times. Students will be tested on the patterns on day three. Refer to the Student Flight Training Book for information on the flight patterns.
